Five North is an independent advisory and research practice based in Australia. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- When you get in touch: your name, email address, organisation and anything you include in your message.
- When you register interest in North Ascent: your name, email address and any details you choose to share.
- When you take part in a Bearings survey: your answers, which are collected anonymously. If you choose to give an email address to receive the report, it is stored separately from your answers.
- When you work with us: business contact details, information needed to deliver the work, and billing details.
- When you visit this website: our hosting provider records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may also receive your IP address. This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a conversation.
- To deliver Compass sessions, advisory and research work, and to invoice for it.
- To send you Bearings or North Ascent updates, but only if you have asked for them.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Bearings research
Survey responses are anonymous and reported only in aggregate, so no individual or organisation can be identified. Quotes are used only anonymously and with permission. Email addresses given to receive a report are used only for that purpose.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the business, such as email, website hosting, survey and accounting providers, and with professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it. Some providers may store information outside Australia; we choose reputable providers with appropriate safeguards.
Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as it is needed, or as the law requires, before deleting it securely.
Your choices
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop sending you updates, at any time. Simply get in touch and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
